Preparation for various test - Pathology Lab Near in Naigaon

  • Person should not eat or drink anything (except water), 8 – 10 hrs. prior test.
  • Confirm with your doctor about taking diabetic or any other medication prior to test.
  • Urine sample for Fasting Urine Sugar required.
  • Test is done 2 hrs. after regular lunch.
  • No food or drink (except water) should be taken in between lunch and blood collection.
  • Try to reach the center 10 min. in advance to be able to give blood on time.
  • Urine sample for Post Prandial Urine Sugar or Post Breakfast Urine Sugar is required.
  • 50 gm Post glucose :-

– Fasting sample is taken.
– Patient is given 50 gm. oral glucose and sample is taken after 1 hour.

  • 75 gm Post glucose :-

– Fasting sample is taken.
– 75 gm. oral glucose is given and sample taken after 2 hrs.

– Fasting sample is taken.
– Patient is given 75/100 gm. oral glucose.
– 4 samples are then collected at ½ hour interval.
– Total 5 blood & urine samples are collected.

  • It can be performed anytime during the day.
  • Patient should inform the lab personal regarding dosage & variation in anticoagulant therapy (if taken) prior to test.
  • It is mandatory that patient should fast 10 – 12 hrs. prior to blood test. Water intake is allowed.
  • Alcohol consumption 24 hrs. to the test is to be avoided.
  • Plain, Simple, non fried Veg. diet on previous day is preferred.
  • Blood for serum Cortisol test is drawn in the morning 8.00 a.m. during peak Cortisol levels and at 4.00 p.m. when the levels drop.
  • Container should be collected from lab prior to a stool test.
  • Consumption of certain food products and medication should be avoided prior to the test. Please discuss this with your clinician.
  • Do not allow urine to mix with the stool sample.
Note for any form of urine analysis, please collect container from laboratory
    • First morning sample is preferable.
    • The sample should ideally reach the lab within 2 hrs.
    • Please refrigerate sample in case of delay.
    • Sterile container is mandatory.
    • First morning sample preferred.
    • Sample should be collected after washing hands with soap and water.
    • Cleanse private parts and allow initial stream of urine to pass. Collect the remainder in sterile container.
    • Do not touch inside of the container.
    • In case of children do not collect urine which has been spilled or contaminated.
    • Bring sample to lab within 1 hour or refrigerate immediately.
    • Use only laboratory, pre-treated containers.
    • Do not throw away preservative inside the container.
    • Discard 1st urine of the day.
    • Collect all other urine samples starting from 2nd sample for over 24 hrs. (Day & Night) till next day morning. Include the next day morning sample.
    • Do not contaminate urine with faecal matter.
    • Keep container in cool, dry place.
    • Take sample to lab immediately after completion of 24 hrs. collection.
  • Refrain from sexual intercourse or masturbation minimum of 4 days prior to testing.
  • Produce the sample by masturbation.
  • Collect the entire sample in the sterile container provided by the lab.
  • Take care not to spill the sample.
  • If volume is less or there is spillage, please inform the same in the lab.
  • The sample should be brought to the lab within 30 – 45 minutes of collection and deposited to lab counter immediately.
  • Sample can be collected in our lab also.
  • Rinse mouth and gargle with clean water prior to collection.
  • Take a deep cough and collect the sample into laboratory container.
  • Cough (not saliva or vomit) is required for the test.
  • The sample should reach the lab as early as possible, please refrigerate, if delay.
